The Invention of Wings

The Invention of Wings

$0.00

This piece was inspired by a book of the same name by Sue Monk Kidd.  It was a decent read, but had extremely strong visual imagery that captivated me.

The book takes place in Charleston and up north.  The photograph and transfer are from sky over the Hudson and a veranda in Charleston.

The quilt is made of squares of polymer clay canes.   These are careful manipulations of colored clay into patterns on a three dimensional scale.  Each cut of the cane reveals the same image. . (See Handala for a photograph of canes).

Polymer clay, photograph,  transfer, acrylic paint, ink, thread
