Durer Dreams in Two Point Perspective

Durer Dreams in Two Point Perspective

$0.00

Albrecht Durer was given a written description and rough sketch of a rhinoceros that arrived in Lisbon in 1515.  He never actually saw a rhinoceros, but created the now famous woodcut. Durer ‘s depiction seems to be wearing a coat of armor.  It is part fact, part fiction and pure genius.

This was the first living rhinoceros in Europe since Roman times.  Sadly, it died in a shipwreck in 1516 when being sent as a gift to Pope Leo X.
